Awareness Building on Plastic Waste Segregation & Recycling in between Students : Installation of PET Bottle Crusher at Eklavya Model Residential School, Jhargram
In April 2023, Bengal Beverages Private Limited took a noteworthy step toward environmental preservation with its ‘Green School Projects’ initiative. With a clear objective to reduce plastic waste and nurture eco-conscious practices among young people, the company installed PET bottle crushers in two prominent Jhargram educational institutions: Ramkrishna Mission Vidyamandir and Eklavya School.
The project encourages students to be actively involved in sustainability efforts by promoting the use of PET bottle crushers. These machines crush plastic bottles, making them 100% recyclable and underscoring the importance of recycling PET bottles. Crushed bottles can be repurposed into new rPET bottles or fibers, reducing environmental impact and promoting circularity in plastic usage.
This initiative represents a proactive approach to tackling the pressing issue of plastic pollution, particularly from single-use plastic bottles that are harmful to ecosystems. Through educational efforts, students learn about the harmful effects of plastic waste and are given hands-on experience in combating it. Using the bottle crushers instills in them the values of waste reduction and recycling as essential daily habits.
Bengal Beverages’ efforts underscore how businesses can promote environmental stewardship through educational outreach. The Green School Projects initiative highlights how seemingly small actions—like installing PET bottle crushers in schools—can have lasting positive impacts on the environment.
By incorporating these machines into the school culture, Bengal Beverages encourages students to become champions of sustainability. The project empowers young people to make a meaningful difference in their communities, fostering a cleaner, greener future for everyone.
