In December 2023, Bengal Beverages Private Limited set a new sustainability benchmark in West Bengal by launching the region’s first Carbonated Soft Drinks(CSD) packaged in 100% recycled PET (rPET) bottles. This pioneering move underscores the company’s commitment to reduce plastic waste and promoting a circular economy, where packaging materials are reused, recycled, and repurposed, ultimately minimizing environmental impact. The shift to rPET for carbonated soft drinks aligns with global sustainability trends and represents a significant advancement for the Beverage Industry in India.

As part of its eco-conscious innovations, Bengal Beverages also launched a pilot project to introduce rStretch Film, the first of its kind in INSWA OU (India and South West Asia Operating Unit of CocaCola). This recycled stretch film, used in packaging and transport, reinforces the company’s dedication to reduce plastic waste across its production and supply chains. By replacing traditional single-use plastic wrap with rStretch Film, Bengal Beverages aims to decrease its reliance on virgin plastic materials, contributing to a greener and more sustainable packaging process.

Adding to its sustainable packaging milestones, Bengal Beverages introduced the use of rShrink Film for carbonated soft drink (CSD) and other beverages multipacks—the first implementation of this technology in West Bengal. rShrink Film is made with 30% from recycled plastic, furthering the company’s mission to minimize waste. This change allows the company to offer popular products in an environmentally responsible way, promoting the benefits of recycling in packaging for food and beverages.
